Pierre Michon

Pierre Michon is a French writer born the March 28th 1945 in Cards (commune of Châtelus-le-Marcheix) in the Creuse. It is raised by his mother teacher after his/her father left the hearth.

Biography

It passes its childhood to Guéret in the Creuse, then studies the Letters with Clermont-Ferrand and devotes to Antonin Artaud a report of control. He travels thereafter in all France, having joined a theater company. With the image of a Rimbaud, he does not follow a stable occupation. At thirty-seven years, it enters the literary life with the publication of the tiny Vies (Prix France Culture), unanimously greeted. This book is presented in the form of a succession of news or “lives” of characters côtoyés by the narrator during his childhood, met or found later in its life of wandering. Each one of these texts is of an exceptional density, of a major style which falls under the line of largest (Julien Gracq, Louis-Rene of the Forests). The account taken as a whole is connected with the autobiographical kind, not like a confession, but like an exploration of the destiny of writer of the narrator, of which all the stake of the book is that it is concluded. This large book succeed of the short and remarkable texts around the destiny of Rimbaud ( Rimbaud the son ) or in a vein which one will qualify, for want of anything better, of romantic ( Large Beune or, more recently, Abbés ). Thus continues a demanding and discrete work which gains more and more in public recognition.

The tiny Lives

Published for the first time in 1984, this autobiography is composed of several little stories, of the news, which tells sections of life of people, people of modest means that Pierre Michon knew or about which he intended to speak, and that he revives in the writing.
