Biography

Very poor man, Pierre Mazzarini had to provide for the needs for his family. This family was made up of six children, Jules Mazarin was the elder one. Each child was to receive an instruction, to be then married where to reach an ecclesiastical function. Pierre Mazzarini was according to certain, majordomo, for others, intendant or manservant. He entered to the service of Filippo Colonna, large Connétable of Naples, prince de Paliano, chief of the elder branch of the princes Colonna. Thanks to its skill, it could be made appreciate of prince Colonna. Pierre Mazzarini could put his family in a great ease. Pierre Mazzarini planned to make of his oldest son Jules Mazarin, a father Jésuite. Its employment with the service of Filippo Colonna made it possible Pierre Mazzarini to profit from the protection of the prince for each one of his six children.
