Pierre Marcilhacy
Pierre Marcilhacy , born the February 14th 1910 and deceased the July 6th 1987, was a politician French 20th century, unfortunate candidate with the French presidential election of 1965. Senator of the Charente since 1948 but little known out of his department, inhabitant Jarnac, sitting in the group of the democratic Left, it was selected to face the general de Gaulle by the liberal national Convention , animated by Jean-Paul David, founder of the European Liberal party.
The Canard connected , which had taken party for Mitterrand, did not miss a dauber on its lack of notoriety. It published one day a white column applicant to offer, of exclusiveness, the life of Marcilhacy; another time a caricature of Lap showed a white poster in front of which a quidam said: “How? You do not recognize it! But it is Marcilhacy. ”. Alain Ayache, then young journalist, devoted one entitled book Pierre Marcilhacy to him: Mr Y (in reference to the nickname Mr X, invented by the Express train when it was a question of seeking the best candidate to be opposed to the De Gaulle general). Top of its 2,01 meters, it collected only 1,71% of the voices on the whole. He decided in favor of François Mitterrand (native of Jarnac like him) for the second turn of the presidential election.
In 1980, it lost its seat with the Sénat but entered in 1983 to the Constitutional council. After the election of François Mitterrand with the Presidency of the Republic, it sat within the “Commission of the assessment” installation by the government of Pierre Mauroy to establish a “inventory of fixtures” at the time of the political alternation of 1981.
