Pierre Marc Johnson

Pierre Marc Johnson (born on July 5th, 1946 in Quebec) is a lawyer, Médecin and politician Québécois. He was minister under Rene Lévesque and the first chief to be succeeded to him the head of the Parti Québécois, for then becoming Prime Minister for Quebec.

Biography

Born in Montreal (Quebec), his/her father, Daniel Johnson (father) was Prime Minister for Quebec of 1966 with 1968. His/her brother, Daniel Johnson (wire) was Prime Minister for Quebec for nine months in 1994.

Each Johnson carried out a different political party: Daniel, father, were chief of the National union, preserving, and had a rather ambiguous position on the question of the independence of Quebec; Pierre Marc was chief of the Parti Québécois, souverainist; and Daniel, wire, were chief of the Liberal party of Quebec, federalistic.

Then appointed circonscrition of Anjou, Pierre Marc succeeds the founder of the PQ, Rene Lévesque, as a chief of the party and Prime Minister for Quebec, but east demolishes by the liberals of Robert Bourassa at the time of the election of December 2nd, 1985 in Quebec. November 10th, 1987 in Quebec, he resigns of the PQ. He refuses to support the Référendum of 1995 in Quebec on sovereignty. Pierre Marc Johnson holds at the same time a diploma in right and a diploma in medicine. He is a former law professor with the Université McGill and is at present legal consultant for the law firm of Heenan Blaikie LP to Montreal.

Current events

In December 2005, it created movements within the movement souverainist by supporting the candidate of the Liberal party of Quebec to the by-election in Outremont, Raymond Bachand.

In October 2006, following the Collapse of the viaduct of the Harmony above the Highway 19 in Laval (viaduct of the boulevard of the Harmony), Pierre Marc Johnson was selected to chair the commission of public survey. This incident because 5 died and 6 seriously injureds.
