Pierre Ménard , born with Laval in 1743, French writer.
Biography
He studied initially with the college of Laval where Renouard had been its school-fellow. It balanced, says this last, the votes of the French Academy when it crowned the praise of Charles V by Jean-François of the Toothing-stone (1767) the speech of Ménard which was printed (Paris, widowed Regnard, in-8°) is only one declamation, according to Mr. Hauréau, but it has some literary merit, and as it is not too long, one supports the reading of it. Narcisse Henri François Desportes adds that one owes him also some works on the art of public speaking. Ménard was named principal college of Aix-en-Provence, a few years before the French revolution.
