Pierre Laujon

Pierre Laujon , born the January 13rd 1727 with Paris where he died the July 13rd 1811, is a dramatic author and Chansonnier French.

Hardly left the Louis-the-Large college, Laujon began with the theater where its successes gained to him the benevolence of the count de Clermont, who appointed it secretary of his commands. It occupied then the same place in the house of prince de Condé and directed the festivals of Chantilly. Member of the old Caveau, where he had sung with Panard, Piron and Collé, he belonged to the dinners of the Vaudeville and the modern Caveau, with Gouffé and Désaugiers.

In 1807, it was allowed with the French Academy. It was then eighty years old. Poor, without liveliness and color, its works, songs or plays, sometimes gracious and are written with correction.

It gave to the theater: Thésée , opera-parody (1745); Daphnis and Chloé , pastoral (1747); Églé , pastoral (1748); the Venus Morning or toilet, entertainment (1749); Sylvie , pastoral (1749); Ismène and Isménius , lyric tragedy (1763); in love one fifteen years , comic opera (1771); Inconsistent the , comedy in five acts, worms (1777); the Convent or fruits of the character and education (1790), etc

Laujon published its songs sounds the title of À-propos of company (1771 - 1783, 3 vol. in-8°) and it published its selected Œuvres (1809 - 1811, in-8°).
