Pierre Lantos

Pierre Lantos (born the July 8th 1942 and dead on March 1st 2007 with Saint-Cloud), is a Astrophysicien French. Research director with CNRS.

Pierre Lantos carried out all his career within the Observatory of Paris-Meudon (42 years).

Entered in 1965 as assistant in the center of forecast of the observatory, he becomes director in 1986 about it, station which he occupies until in 1999. During his career, Pierre primarily worked on the study of the solar crown in radio waves. Since ten year, it had directed its research towards fields more applied (monitoring of the cosmic radiation with the monitors with neutrons of the Kerguélen Islands and Ad3elie coast, installation of tools allowing to envisage and supervise the biological impact of the cosmic radiation on the crews of the civil aviation).

Pierre published many articles on the sun and two works: the Sun (Edition Which do I know? 1994), Sun opposite (Edition Masson 1997).

Apart from his passion for the Sun, Pierre had many other centers of interests in the life like Japan, the opera, the ethnology, the literature and his family.
