Pierre Kahn-Farelle , born in 1906 in Paris, died in 2000 in Sorgues, was industrial in the metallurgy. In the clandestinity of French Resistance it was known under the names of " Pierre of the forgeries papiers" , but also of " Pierre" , or " Alias" , or " Paul" or " Plutus" , or " Morgan" , or of " Roger Farelle" … and it was one of the most active characters and most important of the French interior Résistance. And one of the founders of the Dawn clandestine.

Pierre Kahn had initially worked out a service of manufacture and distribution of false-papers in 1942, in Lyon, to provide the militants of the network " Release " (it directed the social services). Among his/her collaborators appeared in particular Lucie Aubrac which gave him names and addresses usable, with the complicity of the administration.

In 1943, when the movements " Release " , " Combat " and " Franc-tireur " amalgamate in Southern zone, to form the grouping of the WALL (plain Movements of Resistance), Pierre Kahn preserves the same functions. It is called then " Pierre". When with the end of the year 1943, the WALL amalgamate with resistant elements of the Northern zone, to constitute the Liberation movement Main road, MLN, it takes the name d'" there; Alias" , then that of " Paul". And continues to manufacture false paper. But, at the same time, under the name of " Plutus" then that of " Morgan" , it becomes in clandestinity the general treasurer of the MLN. May 18th, 1944, it is stopped by Gestapo. It passes by the street of the Willow plantations, Fresnes, Compiegne, the Train of dead (900 dead), Dachau and the camps of Neckar where it is locked up on July 23rd, 1944 before being miraculeusement released in April 1945. On its return in France, it publishes in the Dawn which reappears at the great day, the account of its captivity. It takes again then its activities in the special metallurgy.

His/her brother, Robert Kahn, born in Paris, was him also industrial in the metallurgy. Under the name of Renaud, he was the chief of the Unified Movements of Resistance, the WALL, in the Loire where he had just settled to direct a special metal company. Stopped by the Gestapo, first once at Saint Etienne, he escapes with the assistance from Lucie Aubrac. Decree second once on denunciation, in Lyon, it is imprisoned in Montluc and is assassinated on order of Klaus Barbie in August 1944. It was high in the Order of the Légion of honor, with the rank of knight, posthumous basis. Its heroic and tragic history is told in the book of Annette Kahn: " Robert and Jeanne" , published with the editions Payot, Paris, 1990 and in the American edition of this book: " Why my father died", with the editions Simon and Schuster, New York, 1991.
