Pierre July

Pierre July is a French politician, born on September 9th, 1906 with Vitry-le-François (Marne) and deceased on August 7th, 1982 with Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine).

Biography

After studies of right to Paris, Pierre July is established with Dreux as pleading solicitor. Lieutenant of infantry during the Second world war, it becomes, under the Occupation, the chief of the Résistance of the area of Dreux, where it operates with Maurice Clavel, charged by the Général de Gaulle to coordinate the French Forces of the interior (FFI) of the department of Eure-et-Loir. Clavel evokes its figure and its role in Resistance through the character of the Lucy lawyer in " The Time of Chartres" (Julliard-1960). Stopped by the Gestapo, July is interned with Compiegne and is condemned to the deportation with Buchenwald, but manages to escape from the convoy which takes it along in Germany.

After the Release, it founds, with his companions of Resistance, the newspaper the republican Echo of Chartres of which it takes the direction. He is elected member of the two constituent National Assemblies like PRL (Republican party of freedom, moderate right-wing grouping). Under the IVe Republic, it sits at the National Assembly like deputy of Eure-et-Loir of 1946 to 1958 in the groups PRL, Rassemblement of French people (RPF), republican and social Action (ARS) which supports Antoine Pinay in 1952), National center of Independent (CNI) and finally Rassemblement of Republican lefts (RGR), where it joined Edgar Faure.

Pierre July is Secretary of State to the presidency of the Council of the governments Joseph Laniel from July 2nd, 1953 to June 18th, 1954, then Minister for the Moroccan and Tunisian Businesses from February 23rd to October 20th, 1955 in the Gouvernement Edgar Faure (2): for this reason, he concludes the free-Tunisian Conventions, signed on June 3rd, 1955, according to the lines traced by Pierre Mendès France in his speech of Carthage, and takes part in the Conférence of Aix-the-Baths on the Morocco which opens the way with the return of exile of the sultan Mohammed V of Morocco then to the independence of Morocco. Once the untied Moroccan business, he becomes deputy secretary with the presidency of the Council, always at Edgar Faure, station which he occupies until February 1st, 1956.

After some unfruitful electoral attempts at the beginning of the Ve République, it turns over definitively to the bar, in Paris, and specializes in the international businesses. It in particular defends, in Algiers, Hocine Has Ahmed, who was one of the historic leaders of the FLN.
