Pierre Joubert is a French draftsman born the June 27th 1910 with Paris and died in La Rochelle, the January 13rd 2002, at the 91 years age.
Biography
Raise School of the applied arts to Paris as from its 14 years, it meets the Scoutisme in 1925. In 1927, Paul Coze notices it in a camp-school with Chamarande and the recruiting as illustrator of the review Scout de France . He then becomes the official draftsman of the movement.he then works with the review “the Illustration”, but its work remains very dependant on the Alsatia editions and its collection “Signe of Track”. It thus illustrates the great names of the literature scoute: Guy de Larigaudie, Jean-Louis Foncine, Serge Dalens (the Prince Eric), and well of others.
He mainly collaborated in reviews scoutes ( the Review of Scouts de France and the Review of Scouts d' Europe ) but also took part in the illustration of the covers of volumes of the collection Marabout Junior, in the editions Marabout, and in particular the adventures of Bob Morane. He also wrote several books on many subjects (autobiography, the heraldic one), and drew many illustrations in religious, historical matter and scoutes, covers of books, calendars etc
He did not hide to have been near to the Camelots of Roy and of the French Action in the Années 1930, just like Maurice Blanchot, Claude Roy or François Mitterrand… One allotted to him, because of a short passage by Vichy during the Second world war (where then temporarily the HQ of Scouts de France was, its official employer), leaning for the political and religious extreme-right-hand side, but these ideas were not them his. Enthusiastic defender and follower of the chivalrous ideal, it created by its drawings a certain style of teenager, impetuous, adventurous and full with hope. Hurled body, hair in battle was the characteristics of these drawings of which it had only the secrecy.
Its career lasted nearly 77 years, during which it drew several thousands of works. Today its drawings are references as regards scouting.
