Pierre Jeantet
Pierre Jeantet , born the May 14th 1947 with Neuilly-sur-Seine in the Hauts-de-Seine, is a journalist and head of French undertaking, chairs directory of the group Le Monde . He succeeded this station on July 2nd, 2007 with Jean-Marie Colombani.
Course
Pierre Jeantet is the son of Gabriel Jeantet, journalist and editor, former leader of the Hood and attached to the cabinet of the Pétain Marshal under the Vichy government.After economic studies of sciences and right to the University Paris II Assas, it began its career of journalist in 1972 with the Agence France-Press (AFP). It successively occupied there the posts of head of the economic service (1980-1982), assistant general secretary (1984), general secretary (1984-1985), business manager (1985-1987), and finally assistant director-general (1987-1990). He was then chairman of Intermonde Presse (1989-1991) and managing director of Eurexpansion (1990-1993).
From 2001 to 2006, it chaired the Group Southern West , which it endeavoured to develop while misant on diversification. The modernization plan of the system of edition caused several strikes carried out by CGT at the beginning of 2005.
Pierre Jeantet occupied several armchairs of administrator in various French press groups and foreigners (Agefi, Economia, Sunday Business Post, the Echo of the Stock Exchange). He is also vice-president of the Syndicat of the daily regional newspaper (SPQR) since 2001 and chair Board of trustees of the Pyrenees Presse since 2002, of the free Charente since 2003 and of the Company of Free of Guyenne and Gascogne since 2004.
He is and National order Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of the Merit.
Le Monde
Pierre Jeantet joined the group Le Monde at the general position of director in 2006, on the request of Jean-Marie Colombani and of the president of the board of trustees Alain Minc.
In July 2007, its nomination by the board of trustees with the presidency of the directory, at the sides of Bruno Patino as vice-president and of Eric Fottorino as director of the newspaper, marked the end of the process of renewal of the directory of the group. Jean-Marie Colombani, candidate for his succession, had not managed to gather the 60% of the votes of the members of the company of the writers of World (SRM) necessary at the time of an organized election on May 22nd, 2007. The members of the SRM have a right to veto indeed. At the time of a similar vote on June 29th, the candidature of Pierre Jeantet was approved by 61,7% of the members of the company of the writers of the Monde . Pierre Jeantet also obtained the support of the journalists of the Presses of the catholic Life and of the free Midi , but not of the executives and employees of the Monde which had voted in favor of the candidature of Jean-Marie Colombani.
