Pierre IV of Aragon
Pierre IV of Aragon (1319 - 1387), king of Aragon (1336 - 1387), the Ceremonious or el LED punyalet (that with a small scraping-knife), is the oldest son of Alphonse VI '' the débonnaire ''. Pierre IV is an energetic souvearin, which has in heart the defense and the enlarging of its kingdom. Under its reign, the crown of Aragon absorbs the kingdom of Majorque and is born the first Généralité from Catalonia.
Conquest of Majorque
The king de Majorque, his uncle and brother-in-law Jacques III is resisted to lend the homage to him, which it however finishes by him paying, in a form that Pierre IV leaves dissatisfied. This one takes pretext of the call using Jacques III in his conflict with the kingdom of France for the seigniory of Montpellier, in 1341, it to convene with Barcelona, invitation declined by king de Majorque. Concerned in addition of not froisser his allies French, king d' Aragon estimates his vassal deposed of his right of assistance by the suzerain. He also takes pretext of the circulation of the proper currency of king de Majorque in the Comté of Roussillon, which would constitute an offense taking into consideration existing royal monopoly in the kingdom of Aragon.He wrote the Chronicles of his name.
Since 1356, it engaged with Pierre Ier de Castille, said the Cruel one, in what was called the " War of Both Pierre ". Pierre the Cruel one died in 1369 and its rival Henri de Transtamare was definitively recognized as king de Castille. It is under these conditions that was concluded between Aragon and Castille in 1375 the Treaty from Almazán, without overcome winner nor, because of the Peste and several natural disasters. A girl of Pierre IV of Aragon (Eleanor) married the son of Henri de Transtamare, Jean Ier de Castille.
During his reign, Pierre IV had frequent conflicts with the general inquisitor of Aragon, Nicolau Aymerich.
Under its reign, the Generalitat was instituted in the Courts of 1358-1359.
Marriage and Children
In 1338, he married Marie de Navarre (1330-1347), girl of Philippe III of Navarre. She gave him four children:- Constança (1343-1363), which married Frederic III Simple the, king de Sicile.

September 19th, 1347, he married Leonor of Portugal (1328-1348), girl of Alphonse IV of Portugal. She died one year later of the Peste.
Its third marriage, on August 27th, 1349 was with his/her Eléonore cousin of Sicily (1325-1375), girl of Pierre II of Sicily. Four children were born from this marriage:

- Eleanor (1358-1382), which married Jean Ier de Castille and which was the mother of Ferdinand Ier d' Aragon.
- Alphonse (1362-1364)
Its last marriage, on October 11th, 1377, was with Sibila de Fortià, which gave him three children, whose only girl survived childhood:
- Alfonse (1376-1377) (born before the marriage and legitimated in 1377)
- Pierre (1979)
- Isabelle (1380-1424), which married his/her Jacques cousin, Count d' Urgell.
