Sotz whimsical, sotz estourdis, sotz wise,

Its works offer a singular mixes mischievousness and of good-naturedness, cheerfulness and gravity, naive faith and discuteuse mood; they are the exact representation of the spirit of the Parisian middle-class at the beginning of. It is especially remarkable by its dramatic works, to which it owes its reputation; its jokes have smoothness, its soties of strength and its political comedies a boldness which makes think of Aristophane and whose one did not see almost any more an example on the theater in France. In the Mystery of saint Louis , it has rise and size. One finds it frequently energetic in his works satirico-morals where it affects even a solemnity which its style always does not support. The majority of the works which it made print show with the frontispiece the portrait of Stupid Mother, with a dress of monk and a cap furnished with ears of ass; one reads around: “All by Reason; Reason everywhere; By any Reason. ” These editions are extremely rare.
Pierre Gringore became, under the feather of Victor Hugo and Theodore de Banville a Personnage of fiction with the C-W communication of “Gringoire”. The first put it in scene, by anachronism, in Notre-Dame de Paris , and the second made of them the hero of a Comédie in worms and an act, played Th3e4atre Fran1cais in 1860.
