Biography
Registered with the University of Basle in 1679 then in 1685 where it obtains a Doctorat in Droit in 1686, Fatio also studies with Geneva, Valence, Montpellier and Leyde. Of return to Geneva, it is made a reputation like lawyer and follows the traditional course of the young patricians eager to reach the high loads of the Republic.Elected with the the Council of the Two hundred in 1688, it still occupies several stations in the administration: Lord of the manor of Saint-Victor and Chapitre in 1691, To that the or in 1696 and lord of the manor of Peney in 1700. Its independent spirit and non conformist disturb the controlling Aristocratie however. This mistrust appears in 1705 when its candidature for the Petit the Council is isolated with the profit of his/her brother, Jacques-François, who however does not have his experience of the public thing.
Fatio is then made the spokesperson and the defender of the Bourgeoisie in fight against the patriciat which henceforth regards it as a defector. At the time of the disorders of 1707, it proposes several reforms, in particular that of the annual meeting of a deliberating General advice. It is however released by the influential fringe of its party which judges its positions too extremists. Pretexting its participation in a project of plot aiming at reversing the government, the Small Council condemns Fatio to death. He is shot in the court of the prison of Evêché.
