Pierre Daix
Pierre Daix (born the May 24th 1922 with Ivry-sur-Seine) is a Journaliste and writer, friend of Pablo Picasso, is the author of several works on Picasso, several works of art on other artists, articles and books on its communist experiment, and its experiment concentrationnaire with Mauthausen and of the novels.
Biography
It adheres to the French Communist party, at 17 years, in 1939. In July 1940, Pierre Daix creates a student club of the laic Center of the inns of the youth (Claj) which was used as legal folding screen with the student clandestine Communists. Resisting, it is stopped. Prisoner of the Vichyist prisons, it passes from Fresnes to Clairvaux then to the concentration camp of Mauthausen. in Mauthausen, knowing German, Pierre Daix works with the organization of clandestine international resistance and to help to save resistant French without reference to political origin.
Thereafter, with the Release, it is named principal private secretary of the communist minister Charles Tillon with the ministry for the Air, the Armament and the Rebuilding.
It writes an article, “ Pierre Daix, number 59.807 in Mauthausen ”, appeared in the French Letters , contradicting that it had there a universe concentrationnaire in Soviet Union and answering thus negatively the request, of the Communist militant David Rousset, a board of inquiry on the existence of concentration camps in Soviet Union
In 1950, Pierre Daix is director of the communist newspaper This evening , drawing daily between 80.000 and 100.000 specimens.
Pierre Daix publishes in 1957 a Lettre with Maurice Nadeau in which it approaches face the crimes of Joseph Stalin. He opens the French Letters , of which he is editor association, with the revisions of Stalinism.
He presents One day of Ivan Denissovitch , of Alexandre Soljenitsyne with the French readers in 1963. He makes a leading article in 1968 to say that when the enormous majority of the students of the country enter in revolt, at the time of the Printemps of Prague.
In 1974, it publishes a book what I know of Soljenitsyne at the time of the publication of the Gulag Archipelago and breaks with PCF, after a master key of weapons with Rene Andrieu, editor association of Humanity . In October 1978, in a premonitory chronicle published in the Point , after the election of the pope Jean-Paul II, it entitles its article the hope changed camp and described the seism which will shake Communism.
It contributed, since 1968, with the debate on the new criticism (in the communist review new criticism ) and the history of the Modern art.
Former editor association of the French Letters , it was there the collaborator of Louis Aragon of 1948 with 1972.
He receives the price Georges Pompidou in 2003 for his very important contribution to the knowledge of art, by his very many works on the subject.
