Pierre Comestor

Pierre Comestor was born with Troyes at the 12th century. The work of its life ( Histoira Scholastica ) was a collection of the stories of the Bible intended to accompany the itinerant monks to provide them the references which it could need for the impromptu sermons or the arguments with the heretics. Biography

He was senior of the church of this city, directed the school of Théologie of Paris during five years, then withdrew himself with the Abbaye of Saint-Victor of Marseilles, where he died in 1178 or 1185.

Comestor, which is born with the neighborhoods from 1147, was priest of the Catholic church of Troyes, out of Champagne, and senior of the chapter of the same church. It left this load to come to Paris where it is named professor of theology between 1164 and 1169. This work, a long time traditional, was translated into French at the same time as the Vulgate by Guyart of the Mills at Saint Pierre of Surface on the Lily in 1294.
