After a double license of philosophy, then of English to the faculty of Nancy, Pierre Christmas remains one year in England like reader at the University, then it carries out its military service in Germany (Mulheim - FRG) until October 1953. It begins its career of teacher in Longwy, then is established, in 1958, in the Saint-Diè-of-Vosges. Engaged very early in the trade-union and political combat, Pierre Christmas militates with the Unified Socialist party (PSU). With the municipal elections of 1965, he is elected mayor of Saint-Dié, with the head of a municipality gathering various left parties, an innovation in the political scene of then. Invited to choose between this function and the membership of the PSU, Pierre Christmas resigns and joined the Convention of the Republican Institutions (CIR) which has just created François Mitterrand. Saint-Dié was heavily tested by the war and, so in 1965 the rebuilding is well engaged, it remains much to be made to restore the city, to equip it with the equipment which it needs, and to ensure its economic and cultural radiation. From 1965 to 1977 Pierre Christmas and his municipality develop an ambitious project of social habitat and equipment: general sports room, worker youth hostel, house for all, schools, library, old people's homes, village hall, and the local museum which bears today the name of Pierre Christmas. Some of these achievements are then quoted in example at the national level like the library. In 1977, the town hall is taken again by the list carried out by Maurice Jeandon (RPR). Also general adviser of the Vosges, canton of Saint-Dié since 1967, it will remain to it until March 1979, date on which it is withdrawn from the policy. He dies brutally on May 20th, 1996.
