Pierre Cathala
Pierre Cathala (1888 - 1947) lawyer and Politician French.
He makes his studies with Paris. A time general secretary of the Left radical socialist, it moves away then and constitutes from there in 1935 the independent Radical party. He is elected Député of the Seine & Oise (Pontoise) of 1928 with 1936. In March 1930, he becomes the principal private secretary of Pierre Laval, Minister for Labor (1930) and is named Sous-secrétaire of State to work and the social welfare (1930). In January 1931, it is named Sous-secrétaire of State to the presidency of the Council, responsible for the Interior. From June 1935 at January 1936, he is Minister for agriculture. Having married on April 22nd, 1914 Mathilde Henriette LAGRANGE, girl of the professor Pierre-Felix Lagrange, originating in Soumensac, it buys the castle of this small village of the Département of Lot-et-Garonne and initiates the classification in AOC of the local vineyard of the Côtes of Lasted.
In September 1939, Pierre Cathala is mobilized with the military justice from July in December 1940. It is initially named General secretary of postal and telecommunications authorities and will be named of April 1942 at August 1944 (856 days) " Minister Secretary of State to the Nation's economy and the finances" . As from January 1944, he becomes also Secretary of State to Agriculture (March 1944: Secretary of State to Agriculture and the Supply).
Faithful of Pierre Laval, Pierre Cathala continues the financial policy of his predecessor with however a room for maneuver increasingly limited by the Occupant. Condemned by contumacy to the Release by the High Court of justice, he lives almost until his last days in the clandestinity of August 1944 in March 1947.
