Pierre Carette
Pierre Carette , born with Charleroi in 1952, militant Marxisme-léninisme was the principal leader of the fighting communist Cellules (CCC) which in the years 1984 and 1985, 28 attacks perpetrated on the Belgian territory .
Wire of a civil servant and an educational psychologist, Pierre Carette follows an artistic formation in Gravure to the academy of the Art schools, then settles like printer.
Its political commitment starts in the Seventies, during which it militates within various organizations of extreme left in Belgium, printing various publications. It is one of the instigators of the support group to the members of the Red Army Fraction German, then imprisoned, of which it prints texts as well as leaflets and posters of support. It comes then into contact with the members of this organization, like with those of the French group Direct action, meeting on several occasions Nathalie Ménigon.
It then founds with others the CCC, persuaded that in the agitated context of these years, economic crisis of beginning of the year 80, opposition to the establishment in Belgium of missiles of NATO which bring together many demonstrators, terror and political destabilization create by the Tueries of the Brabant, dealing of several bunches of extreme right-hand side, one will not need more large-thing to cause the reaction of the masses.
Their first action, carried out with members of Direct action, is the flight in a career, not kept, of a stock of 800 kilos explosives, which will be then distributed between various European organizations. They make use of it to make jump of the pipelines of NATO, from which the rooms of visits, isolated in full shift, are at that time protected only by simple locks.
Carette still takes part in many attacks against political institutions and soldiers who make only property damages. May 1st 1985, a trapped vehicle is placed street of the Grounds in front of to the seat of the Fédération of the Companies from Belgium in Brussels. As each time, of the leaflets of warning are left with the accesses of the place, and it police force is informed explosion by telephone so that it prohibits the access to the place. The explosion will kill two firemen who were not informed of the danger. Carette will always refuse the culpability of the drama, showing the police force to be responsible about it for lack of organization.
December 16th, 1985, Pierre Carette is stopped in company of three other members of the group in a fast-food of Namur. Their lawsuit, in which he refuses to collaborate, takes place in 1988, Carette, Bertrand Sassoye, Didier Chevolet and Pascale Vandegeerde is all the four condemned to perpetuity, in spite of the fact that the two last did not take part in the mortal attack of the street of the Grounds.
Subjected to the insulation and a mode of imprisonment special, Carette and Sassoye, will carry out several hunger strikes, claiming a statute of political prisoners, non-existent in Belgium. During its imprisonment, Pierre Carette written of the political lampoons, whose program entitled “the arrow and the target”, it recommends there amongst other things, the suppression of monarchy and the control of information by the party. He will never disavow his last actions.
Three of the members of the group will be released in 2000. Pierre Carette, will remain in prison until in 2003, purging 17 years of imprisonment, one exceptional duration in Belgium.
Communist sympathizers awaited it, at leaving prison, they had fixed themselves go in front of the communal House to Saint-Gilles, follows a demonstration of solidarity. Anne Morelli, professor in the Universit3e libre de Bruxelles was also present and declares " I do not know it personally. I do not intend to put bombs some share. But I consider that it is a question of principe" .
Little time after its release, it was confronted during a television program of the Belgian Dutch-speaking chain VRT, with the former Prime Minister for the Eighties, Wilfried Martens, refusing to answer the hello addressed by this last. It stated there to be always militant Communists and to consider that the fight continues.
