Pierre Brumoy
Pierre Brumoy , known as the father Brumoy , born with Rouen the August 26th 1686, died with Paris the April 16th 1742, is a Man of letters and Journaliste Jésuite French.
The Brumoy father professed in the colleges of his kind. He provides articles to the Journal of Trévoux , published T. XI of History of the church gallicane started with Jacques Longueval and Pierre-Claude Fontenay which it had been charged to continue.
The work which made its reputation, the Théâtre of the Greeks , contains the translations of seven parts, the analyzes of the others, and begin with three speeches: On the Greek theater ; On the origin of the tragedy ; On the parallel of the old theater and modern the . In spite of inaccuracies of translation and sights narrow, this work rendered the service to make known with the public of the authors who were accessible only to the scientists and was republished.
There is still of Brumoy a Recueil of various parts in prose and worms ; various Works , (Paris, 1741, 4 vol. in-12), containing speeches, three tragedies, two comedies in worms, played in the colleges, and two Latin poems estimated, one on Passions, the other on the Glassmaking . It also had share with the Résolutions of Spain of the father of Orleans and with the Histoire of Rienzi of the father Of the Hoop.
