Pierre Borel

Pierre Borel is a chemist, Médecin, Botaniste and scholar French, born in 1620 with Castres and dead in June 1689 with Paris.

He becomes doctor of Médecine to the Medical college of Montpellier in 1640. He becomes, in 1654, doctor of the king Louis XIV. It Marie with Esther de Bonnafous in 1663. It enters in 1674 to the Academy of Science.

He is the author of:

  • antiquities of Castrate , 1649;
  • Bibliotheca chimica , 1654;
  • Treasure of research and Gallic and French antiquities , 1655 (it is its principal title);
  • Historiarium and observationum medico-physicarum centuriae II ;
  • Of vero telescopii inventore , 1655. He studies in particular the optics and of the very varied subjects, energy of botany to the old story, philology to the bibliography. This eclecticism will be reproached to him by many biographers.
