Pierre Bergounioux

Pierre Bergounioux , born with Brive-the-Strapping woman in 1949, is a French writer. Former student of the National university of Saint-Cloud, aggregate of modern letters, prize winner of the Price Alain-Baker, on the occasion criticizes literary, but also sculptor, teaching in Collège, militant of left, father, fisherman of Truite S and of large books, Pierre Bergounioux shares his life between luminous lonelinesses of the High-Corrèze and the days austere, hard, constrained, in Parisian suburbs.

Carried by a remarkably engraved poetic style, its books intend to clear up the painful question of the origins and the uprooting, not only geographical but ontological. The work of Bergounioux seeks to exceed the tear which leads childhood to the adulthood, i.e. with the knowledge of its own ignorance and nonsense of the world. Like Faulkner, to which it devoted a book and many articles, “between sorrow and nothing, sorrow chose”.

In parallel, Pierre Bergounioux carried out a reflection on the school in a book of talks published in October 2006, ironically entitled École: mission accomplished . He made there the land-mark acknowledgment of the failure of the single college, whose operation not only does not reduce the inequalities, but accentuates at the pupils weakest humiliation and the presentiment which they have of the inferiority of their social condition. “The only way of not making violence with the children would be to judge them compared to themselves, to evaluate the distance which they traversed between the state where found we them with leaving the family universe and that to which they rose under the effect of our teaching. But that would amount publicly recognizing the injustice of our company, to draw from them the conclusions, who are revolutionists, nothing less, and never we were not also far from doing it. ”

He is the brother of the writer and professor Gabriel Bergounioux.
