Origin

In 1994, it takes part with Line Renaud in the creation of fight association against the AIDS Sidaction (www.sidaction.org), of which he will become the president in 1996, station that he occupies still today. Sidaction is one of main associations of fight against AIDS in Europe. Present since the Eighties in the fight against AIDS (Pierre Bergé was president d' Arcat Sida in the Eighties), it shows a major attachment with this combat.

It supports Ségolène Royal for the presidential 2007 and was present at Villepinte at the time of the presentation of its “presidential pact”, on February 11th, 2007. It also finances the new seat of the ex-candidate to the presidential election boulevard Raspail (Paris 6th).

Pierre Bergé is also president of the Office of the Association of the friends of the Institut François Mitterrand.

Patronage

Pierre Bergé has with Yves the St. Lawrence an apartment of 600 square meters in VIIe district, the Château Gabriel with Deauville (35 ha), the palate of the Jardin Majorelle with Marrakech (which has just been put on sale) and of the works of art (Goya, Braque, Cézanne, Matisse). Patron, it yields at the State with frank the symbolic system, in 1982, the Théâtre of the Athenaeum. He finances also the foundations of Danielle Mitterrand, Arcat-AIDS, S.O.S Racism, the Foundation Pierre Bergé Yves Saint Laurent…
