Pierre Bénichou , born on March 1st 1938 with Oran in Algeria, is a journalist French.

Of Jewish origin Séfarade, it grows in Oran (in the district of the Navy). His/her father, professor of Philosophy, directs the private course with dimensions of the city and his/her mother is the sister of Georges Dayan. Raise with the Lycée Lamoricière then with the Lycée Condorcet with Paris, it is registered with the Sorbonne but very quickly, it gives up its studies for the Journalisme. He is also the nephew of the writer Paul Bénichou.

Located politically on the left, it lines up among the partisans of French Algeria during the Guerre of Algeria. Initially training with France-Evening (1957), it enters as writer to Paris-Day in 1959. Two years later, it is engaged like international reporter to Jours of France . But as of 1963, it prefers to join as assistant editor association Adam , a monthly magazine for men mainly centered on art of living and the mode. The repurchase of the title by Claude Perdriel in June 1966 and its transformation into Nouvel Adam enable him to take the drafting as a chief of it - the functions of director of the drafting of Guy Sitbon being more fictitious than real.

It ensures a pewter society men chronicle then it where its opinions of right-hand side do not show through. But his/her friends (Antoine Blondin, Marvier of Paris Match , etc) are located very on the right and itself does not hide its rejection of the Gaullisme like left intellectualism of . There hardly remains only one year in its functions because Perdriel seeks to transfer it to the Nouvel Observateur. The hostility of the drafting of Obs to the rehousing of the journalists resulting from other titles of the Perdriel group delays its arrival. Thus, it must await the autumn 1968 to integrate the Hebdomadaire with the title of assistant editor association charged with the heading Our Time .

It then tries to start again this heading with Katia D. Kaupp, Jean-Francis Held and Jacqueline Dana. He writes itself of the articles, at the rate/rhythm of a little less one per month during the first two years. But its action appears disappointing and, as of the re-entry 1970, without bitterness, it passes the hand to Olivier Todd. It preserves S its title of associated editor association, shining in the rewriting (of the pages One Will speak Tomorrow about it) and in the search for titles. It also episodically carries out interviews or portraits like that of François Mitterrand (November 18th 1968), very near to his uncle Georges Dayan. But if he writes some articles on Georges Pompidou, he approaches the interior policy little. Starting from 1971, it writes seldom more than 3 articles per annum, mainly of the obituary homages and some articles on subjects of company. It treats in particular male Prostitution (November 1969) and sexual behavior of the French (October 1972). In November 1972, it publishes even in Modern times an investigation into the prostitution and the Masochisme introduced by Gilles Deleuze. It calls also on Bernard Kouchner at the time of the drama of the Biafra or to Nicole Gerard on the prison condition. But like its monograph of Eddy Mitchell illustrates it (CAP Editions, 1977), its passion is more on the side of the French Chanson than of the intellectual debates. Following the departures of two other assistant editor associations (Olivier Todd in July 1977 and Jacques-Laurent Bost in December 1978), it is, in December 1978, promoted editor association in charge of the talks and the documents. Assisted Genevieve Cattan, he excels in the indiscreet interview where its interlocutor loses foot the following the example of Federico Fellini (February 28th 1977). Father-in-law of Vincent Lindon, it is undoubtedly not foreign on arrival of Mathieu Lindon in February 1978 with the drafting of Obs. Within the drafting, it supports rather the cause of François Mitterrand in the race with the socialist investiture of 1981.

Following the departure of Hector de Galard (1985), he becomes assistant editor without changing functions basically. He publishes in 1988 a book on the Cinéma ( France Leisures ) with Jean-Pierre Petrolacci. Since 1996, he is delegate president but he puts himself gradually in withdrawal of the drafting.

He makes his beginnings as a chronicler with the radio at the sides of his friends Carlos and Jean Yanne with the Famous persons. Since 1999, he is chronicler on Europe 1 in the emission One will obstruct and since 2002 with One very tested on France 2. Of 2001 with 2003, it also works at the sides of Michel Drucker in Vivement next Sunday .

Bénichou is also officer of the Légion of honor and obtains the price of the Fondation Mumm in 1994.

It takes its first steps of actor in 2004 in the play hot season written by Laurent Ruquier and put in scene by Patrice Leconte.

With the radio and the Television, it can show its talents of comic, its liveliness and its culture, particularly pointed as regards Tango, of songs of Entre-deux-guerres and the history of the Occupation. He appreciates the ambiguous Humor, speaking about his male colleagues to female to put them out of box and having been able to repeat with leisure during a time During the Années 1960? I was young girl!
