Pierre Ayot

Pierre Ayot was a multidisciplinary artist who used as well the Photographie, serigraphy, the sculpture, the video installation and it. Born in 1943 with Montreal it is accidentally deceased in 1995.

He studied with the École of the fine arts of Montreal and had as a professor the engraver Albert Dumouchel.

In 1966, it founded Graff, a research center, of production and diffusion which it directed until its death in 1995. In parallel it made career as professor at the Department of visual art of the Université from Quebec in Montreal.

Retrospectives of its works were presented by the Musée of contemporary art of Montreal (1980) and by the Musée of the fine arts of Montreal (2001). In 1993, the National museum of the fine arts of Quebec presented its most recent installations under the title of “Pierre Ayot and his Circus Museum”. Works of Pierre Ayot are diffused by the gallery Graff, Montreal.

Two Prices were instituted with its memory: The Graff Price (decreed by Graff annually with an artist with semi-career) The Pierre-Ayot Price (decreed annually by the Town of Montreal to a young artist)
