Biography

He went to the Indies and was there at the same time as his/her brother Charles Claude Ange Monneron. It was made naturalize Portuguese with Goa in 1779. It went on mission to Batavia on behalf of the government and obtained with the Mysore the friendship of Tippo Sahib which it pushed much to enter the way of the conquests.

Its disastrous councils with the sultan contributed to the resolution which took this one to send of the ambassadors in France. Pierre Monneron offered boats to him to transport the embassy, which was accepted. Tippo wished to obtain on behalf of the French government an alliance more effective than that which it had had of the French of Pondichéry, a few years before.

In 1787, Pierre Monneron will transport to his expenses the ambassadors of the sultan Tippo Sahib, and their continuations (44 people) on the vessel “ the Dawn ”, from India to Versailles on the metropolitan territory. But France did not wish any more, in 1787, from wars in the Indies, the ambassadors returned without to have obtained anything (Tippo made them cut the head as a reward).

It vainly tested years after (and many tribulations - which are reported in its “ Odyssée ”), to join Tippo so that this one refunds the expenses of this embassy to him…

He was appointed with the General states of 1789 with his brothers Claude Ange and Louis and represented the Ile de France there.

In May 1791, Pierre Antoine Monneron exploited a big role in the debate of the National Assembly the emancipation of the populations of color of the Empire. The colonial Parliament had to face a contradiction: to preach the Human rights, while accepting the Slavery. Monneron was at the same time appointed of a colony of slaves, and in favor of the Amis of the Blacks, vis-a-vis the deputies of the French West Indies and with their partisans with the National Assembly.

It is probable that it died in the Ile de France, in spite of the note which makes him finish its days in the Persian Gulf.
