BiographyAfter having been Mayor of the town of Mount-Saint-Aignan during 18 years of 1983 with 2001, it is elected Maire UDF of Rouen the March 18th 2001 thus beating the list of the outgoing mayor, the Socialist Yvon Robert (first socialist mayor, elected in 1995). It gives again in UDF a traditionally center city and old bastion of Jean Lecanuet.
Partisan of Francois Bayrou at the time of the presidential elections of 2007 and joint author of the legislative program of UDF, it joins himself the second turn with Nicolas Sarkozy by declaring at a public meeting of the president of the UMP to the Grand-Quevilly the April 24th 2007 Even if I do not approve in totality the proposals of Nicolas Sarkozy, I note a very strong convergence on the broad objectives. This is why, without disavowing in any manner neither my course nor my values , I will vote for Nicolas Sarkozy . May 10th it declines the participation in the creation of the democratic Mouvement and announces then that it is detached from any political party for to join the people, very largely majority in our country, of the French belonging to no political party and refuses to take part in the Nouveau Center while supporting a candidate of this party for his succession in the delegation.
