Pierre-Yves Rhun , geographer

Born in 1936, in an large family of peasants of the country Bigouden (Tréméoc). After the college the Tower of Auvergne to Quimper, it enters to the Teacher training school of Bordeaux and prolongs its studies with the Institut of Geography of the Université of Lyon, Institut directed by Maurice Lannou. Incorporated Geography in 1962, it chooses to return to Brittany (Nantes), and, after the military service, obtains a post of professor of history and geography to the Lycée Clemenceau. Entered as assistant with the University of Nantes in 1968, it passes in 1972 a thesis of third cycle on intensive poultry farming to Brittany . Its university career is marked by the publication of many articles. In 1976, he is the coordinator of the Géographie of Brittany and in 1994 of the Géographie and Aménagement of Brittany . It also takes part in the Atlas of Brittany (1990). It is a committed geographer: he supports the fights for the defense of the scrap-metal, for the promotion of the marsh of Guérande, against the power station of the Notebook, for the administrative reunification of Brittany (Brittany and Grand Western, 1988), president of CUARB, for the promotion of the Breton culture, in particular at the school. This engagement is done within the framework of SEPNB/Bretagne Vivante and within Ar Falz. Under its presidency, Ar Falz launched with other movements the Cultural Front Breton Progressist. It was several years chair C.U.A.B. (Committee for the Administrative Union of Brittany) and remains member of the office. It is decorated with the Ordre of Hermine.
