Pierre-Valéry Archassal (born the February 9th 1963 with Paris) is a Généalogiste French.

After studies with the Medical college of Paris, Pierre-Valéry Archassal chooses to direct himself towards the social history, new technologies and the communication. A career with Radio France, then as a cabinet of communication strategy, is not incompatible for him with the writing of many dedicated works to the genealogy, its passion of childhood. From its personal research, started at the 14 years age in 1978, it learns a historical and demographic lesson. Listener of the seminars of professor Jacques Dupâquier to the School of the High Studies in Social sciences, it familiarizes with the historical Démographie and integrates into 19 years the national magazine Genealogy-magazine where it writes each month the Roman Truth of the French . He joined then the drafting of the French Revue of genealogy and history of the families where it invents first heading devoted to Internet & Genealogy in 1998 (become the Cybergénéalogie book for which he always has the responsibility), before being the first to publish a work on this topic in 2000, republished each year.

Elected official regular member of the International Academy of Genealogy in 2004, it is named president of the scientific committee of the XVIIe national congress of genealogy, then becomes founding member of the European Federation of Genealogy. Director of the Observatory European of the genealogy, it regularly gives conferences on the topics which are expensive to him, in particular the defects and virtues of new technologies as regards genealogy or initiation to the genealogy for the neophytes.

Invited during the twenty last years of the newspapers Le Monde (with Pierre Callery) and Release (newspaper) (file on the Mormon ), in 2006 Pierre-Valéry Archassal publishes its tenth work on an innovative topic, that of the genealogical biography ( Généalogie, a modern passion - Bourin Éditeur). He describes in these pages how the individual history is more extraordinary than the official story and why this modern passion became one of the preferred leisures of the French.

Raise of the Count d' Arundel de Condé, he also teaches the Paléographie since 1994 near several deposits of Departmental records and the Genealogical Library and of Social History. In 2001, it founds the Genealogical Institute of Paleography, organization intended to popularize the reading of the files by the researchers amateurs.

Enthusiastic defender of the free and collaborative genealogy, it reconstituted through time the whole of the families of several rural communes and collaborates daily in the initiatives in favor of the development of the genealogical exchanges on Internet. This combat for the exemption from payment and the claim of a genealogical humanism, like its works, are worth to him to be regularly consulted by the national chains (LCI, Direct 8, France Inter, Europe 1, RMC Infos,…) on the genealogical questions or the transmission of the patronyms which is the legislative reform object since 2004.

Pierre-Valéry Archassal prepares in 2007 a series of emissions for the chain Arte, under the title '' On the traces of last the ''.
