Pierre-Joseph Odolant-Desnos

Pierre-Joseph Odolant-Desnos , born the November 21st 1722 with Alençon and dead the August 11th 1801 with Alençon, is a Médecin and Historien French.

Pierre-Joseph Odolant-Desnos begins his studies with the college of the Jésuites of Alençon and finishes them with the Sorbonne. he returns to settle with Alençon in 1752 and practical medicine without never ceasing studying. Some of its observations are published in the Journal of medicine . It is named corresponding royal Société of Medicine of Paris, Academy of Science and the Humanities of Rouen and Academy of Science, Arts and the Humanities of Caen. Impassioning itself for the history, it writes many works and several manuscripts, devoted in particular to the history of its birthplace, which are however not free from errors, so much so that one said of him that it had proven that “one can be to it a good chronicler and bad archeologist”. He will know some troubles with the Révolution, his mania to write having apparently led it to write some anonymous letters… He will be also related to the list of the people subjected to the compulsory loan of a billion on “the egoistic rich person” in 1793. The disease will prevent this scholar sometimes subject to deposit from writing and of speaking during the three last years about its life.
