Pierre-Hermann Dosquet

Mgr Pierre-Hermann Dosquet (1691-1777) is bishop of Quebec of 1734 with 1739.

Native of Lille, in Flandres, in 1691, Priest of Saint-Sulpice, it arrives at Quebec, in News-France in July 1721. He turns over to France the August 15th 1723. The pope Benoit XIII, the sacring itself the day of Christmas 1725, under the title of bishop of Samos, In partibus, and assisting with the papal Throne.

It returns in News-France on August 23rd, 1729, in charge of the administration of the diocese by the bishop in title, Louis-François Duplessis de Mornay. Mgr Dosquet is confirmed as coadjutor of the bishop of Quebec by Clément XII by a papal Bulle of the July 24th 1730. When Mgr of Mornay resigns its évêché on September 12th, 1733, he is recognized bishop of Quebec, on his arrival in France, 1734.

The August 8th 1734, it makes take possession of its seat per Mr. Eustace Chartier de Lotbinière, Archidiacre of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame of Quebec, reconsiders to Canada the end of the same year, and remains there until the autumn of the following year. It passes by again then in France, and is dislocated of sound évêché of Quebec the June 25th 1739, in favor of Mr. François-Louis de Pourroy de Lauberivière. He becomes then vicar-general of the Archevêque of Paris, and dies in Paris, the March 4th 1777, 86 years old.
