Pierre-Chaumont Liadières

Pierre-Chaumont Liadières is a soldier and French politician, born the September 28th 1792 with Pau (Yrénées-Atlantiques) and deceased the August 17th 1858 with Paris.

Military career

After studies in Pau and Paris, it entered to the Polytechnic school and left there in 1812 in the genius. It took part in the countryside of Saxony, attended the Bataille of Leipzig, was named lieutenant in 1813 and was made captive in 1814. During the Hundred Days, it was useful in the army of North. During the Second Restoration, it remained some time under the monitoring of the police force, then took again service in 1818 with the rank of captain of the genius with Bayonne, Grenoble, Saint-Omer and Amiens.

Political career

It was in garrison in Paris when burst the Révolution of 1830. It fought on the barricades and was named aide-de-camp of Louis-Philippe. Seen very well at the court, he was elected appointed fifth college of the Low-Pyrenees (Orthez) to replace Pierre-Firmin Lestapis, resigner. He represented with the Chambre the “  party of the cour  ”. He was constantly re-elected, until the end of the reign of Louis-Philippe: June 21st, 1834, on November 4th, 1837, on March 2nd, 1839, on July 9th, 1842 and on August 1st, 1846. He frequently spoke and belonged to a great number of commissions.

Pierre-Chaumont Liadières became officer of the Légion of honor in 1837, major of the genius in 1841, adviser of State in extraordinary service in 1846. After the Revolution of February, there remained faithful to the government and was devoted exclusively to the literature and poetry.

In 1856, it aspired to without success the succession of the count Molé with the French Academy.

Work written

Liadières occupied his leisures of officer to write tragedies. He left: Conradin and Frederic (1820), Jean without Fear (1821), Jane Shore (1824) and Walstein (1829).
