Mgr Pierre-Adolphe Pinsonnault (1815-1883) was the first bishop of London.

Born with Saint-Philippe the November 23rd 1815, it was ordered in Paris on December 19th, 1840. Member of the Seminar of Saint-Sulpice, it was named canon of the Chapitre of Montreal. The May 18th 1856, it was crowned bishop of London, High-Canada, in the church of Saint-Jacob of Montreal, by Mgr of Charbonnel, was assisted bishops of Cydonia and Portland.

It took solemn possession of sound évêché on June 29th, 1856, and it transferred its seat to Sandwich on February 2nd, 1859. Having given its resignation on December 22nd, 1866, it was withdrawn in the Diocèse of Albany, as bishop of Birtha, and spent the last years of its life to Montreal, where it died on January 30th, 1883.
