Monseigneur Piero Marini , born on June 13rd, 1942 in Valverde in Italy is a Archevêque of the Roman Curie.

Ordered priest for the diocese of Rome in 1965, he is the secretary of Mgr Annibale Bugnini, Master of work of the liturgical reform of 1970.

He occupies starting from the pontificate of Jean-Paul II the functions of cérémoniaire (1983) then of Maître of the liturgical celebrations (1987) of the Saint Father. It is ordered bishop on February 14th, 1998, named titular of the diocese of Martirano. In 2003, it is high with the rank of archbishop.

In its functions of cérémoniaire, he was very criticized for choices going sometimes in rupture with an unmemorable tradition

Conscious of criticisms which aimed it, badly in court at Benoît XVI, he nevertheless had refused several proposals for a nomination at évêchés these last years.
