The family of Piero Manzoni will attend as of the beginning Lucio Fontana, with which he will define the guiding line of its work.

These works, influenced by Yves Klein, will mark especially the beginning of its career. With achromes , it paints the white large surfaces worked with the felt, chalk white and soaked with adhesive and Kaolin.

In 1959 it definitively leaves It gruppo nucleare and starts then a collaboration with Enrico Castellani, which deeply will fall under its work, and Agostini Bonalumi. It founds the review Azimuth at the same time as the gallery of the same name. This review presents works of Klein, Pomodoro, Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Piero Dorazio, Novelli and Angeli. It also will come into contact with the Groupe zero of Düsseldorf. The work of Manzoni, becomes increasingly radical, in particular thanks to its various collaborations. He seeks at all costs to attack with the middle-class, and the tradition. In addition to continuing its research on the " Achromes" , he works on series of conceptual objects:

In 1960 it exposes with Klein, Mack and Castellani.

Piero Manzoni died of a myocardial infarction in Milan in 1963.
