Eichhoffen is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace.
Geography
At an altitude from 230 to 260 meters, the slope of Moenchberg is located at the west of Eichhoffen, the exit of Andlau, and forms a small valley sheltered on its southern slope, profiting from a dry and hot environment. The texture of the grounds, mainly argilo-muddy, is fine. This ground of predilection for the Riesling, with fruity elegant and the framed body, is cultivated since the Roman epoch.
History

Under the dynasties ottoniennes (of Henri Ier with Henri II) and saliennes (of Conrad II with Henri V), Alsace knows a true revival, in particular thanks to its strategic position on the Rhenish and alpine roads. It remains divided into two counties (Nordgau and Sundgau). The family of Habsburg/Habsbourg, originating in Ottmarsheim, counts de Sundgau, is gradually eclipsed by the counts of Dabo /Dagsburg-Eguisheim, Masters of Nordgau, and from which the future pope Leon IX will come Count Brunon d' Eguisheim-Dagsburg (1048 - 1054) at the time of the apogee of this family. The emperors are pressed on the bishops whom they name, to reign effectively.
Eichhoffen was at that time (986) a field pertaining to the counts Hugo IV Wire of Hugo III of Dabo/Dagsburg-Eguisheim, father of the pope Leon IX. His/her brother Eberhard III directs the completion of work of the family monastery of Altorf.
In 1052, the vault Saint-Jean-Baptist is devoted by the pope Leon IX.
Albert I Wire of Hugo V and nephew of the pope Leon IX dated July 13rd, 1097 yields (donation) the field of Eichhoffen (Eichhoffe) to the monastery of Altdorf in a document addressed to the Otto bishop of Strasbourg. In 1227, Eichhoffen becomes the property of the bishop of Strasbourg following the extinction of lined counts de Dabo/Dagsburg-Eguisheim.
Birth of Mathias Ringmann in 1482 in Eichhoffen which dies in 1511 in Sélestat.
In 1569, the vault Saint-Jean-Baptist is increased.
1603: extension of the village by the construction of houses to Half-timbering.
