Picardy Georges

Georges Picardy , born the December 23rd 1857 with Remiremont in the the Vosges and died in 1946, was a painter French.

He was the pupil of Jean-Leon Gérôme, and was mainly a creator of frescos.

Its works are visible:

  1. - In one of the rooms (Room SCHMIT) of the Casino of Monte Carlo (two frescos),
  2. - In one of the rooms of the Town hall of Paris: with the ceiling of the Library of the Council, allegorical fresco carried out after the fire of 1872 and entitled " Towards the lumière" of which the artist known as: " In a twilight sky, a great figure “the Genius of Humanity” supports children and involves them out of the dark horizons towards the Truth or the Ideal which we will not reach jamais" ,
  3. - With the Theater of Buenos Aires (Argentinian),
  4. - With the ceiling of the room of the common house of the XV° district of Paris,
  5. - One of the rooms of the small palace in Paris (ceiling of the rotunda sud.ouest realized in two times: 1909 and 1920),
  6. - With the embassy from France to Vienna.

There would be also fabrics of Georges Picard to the museum of Saint-Louis (the USA).

It also illustrated fantastic works and novels, like the Contes of Perrault).
