Piano rock\'n\'roll
The piano rock'n'roll , sometimes called pop piano is a style of music resulting from the progressive Rock being articulated around the piano and sometimes of related instruments such as the Fender Rhodos or the Synthétiseur. Contrary to the usual formations of Rock'n'roll associating an electric guitar, low, a battery and a singer, the piano rock'n'roll puts the pianist at the center of the group. Traditionally, the piano rock'n'roll is not as popular as the traditional Rock. However, certain groups and artists belonging to the style piano rock'n'roll have a certain notoriety such as: The Fray, Elton John, Vanessa Carlton, Daniel Powter or Keane.
History
The roots of the piano rock'n'roll go back to the years 1950 with the pioneers of the Rock “roll like Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. Many their fanatic services such as the kicks related to the keyboards of the pianos, the descents and the rises of ranges creating of the spectacular effects or the fact of sitting down on the keyboard are from now on currency in the modern piano rock'n'roll and are often carried out at the time of the services of Billy Joel, of Elton John as well as Ben Folds.Elton John and Billy Joel can be regarded as the founders of the kind with many successes during years 70,80 and 90, amalgamating the sounds of Rhythm and blues of the pianists Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder with the rock'n'roll and the pop one of Jerry Lee Lewis
Artists like Tori Amos, Ben Folds, or Fiona Apple allowed the piano rock'n'roll to persist in the public conscience during the Nineties and 2000. More recently of other artists such as Regina Spektor, Vanessa Carlton or Anna Nalick belong to this style.
Recent successes of the piano rock'n'roll
Certain modern artists still prefer to use the piano instead of the very popular electric guitars like in particular the English group famous Keane not to use guitars in their music. Indeed, after being itself separate of their guitarist in 2001, the still unknown group decided to have some more to focus itself on the use of the piano. In 2003, their pieces of piano rock'n'roll " Everybody' S Changing" and " Somewhere Only We Know" they made a group internationally reconnu.Ben Folds Five was at the origin of some successes in the years 1990 in particular with the titles " Brick" and " Song for the Dumped". Since that separation with the group, Ben Folds is also a great success in its career solo.
Evanescence is also an example of success in the piano rock'n'roll with pieces like " Bring Me to Life" , " My Immortal" or " Cal Me When You' Re Sober". The English group Coldplay also contributed to the popularization of the kind with very famous the " Clocks" and " Speed off Sound".
Vanessa Carlton with its title " In Thousand Miles" and more recently the group The Fray with " " How to Save has Life" and " " Over My Head (Cable Because) " put the piano at the center of their compositions.
