Phyllis Dillon
Called “the diva rock'n'roll steady of the island to the treasure”, Phyllis Dillon was born in 1945 in Linstead, parish of Co.-Catherine in Jamaica. She is one of the largest singer of the island, illustrating herself in the Rocksteady and the Reggae.
Discovered by Lynn Taitt, it records starting from 1966 its first titles on Treasure Isle for Duke Reid: Perfidia , It' S Rocking Time , Coils Letters in duet with Alton Ellis, Woman Of The Ghetto , etc
She settles in New York in 1967 when she sings with the Bucaneers , then cease any musical activity in 1971, before returning in 1993 at the Festival Rock'n'roll Steady de Portmore to Jamaica, and the following year in London.
She dies of the continuations of a cancer on April 15th, 2004.
