Philosophy maidservant of theology

Philosophia ancilla theologiam , Latin title of a work of the theologist Robert Baron, published with Edinburgh in 1621. The formula remains in the history of Western philosophy like the symbol of the hegemony of the Christian thought on philosophy during centuries.

History

Theologists like Pierre Damien, Albert Large the, or Thomas d' Aquin will have inspired this formula which does nothing but crystallize the secular amorous adventure with the servants of theology for sciences and the reason.

Remainder, the Christians were not the only ones to subject the reason to the revealed truth. For example, one hardly finds currents religious rationalist among Moslems but the Mutazilisme, or in any case very little.

Counterpoints
