Philolaos Tloupas (sculptor)

Philolaos Tloupas , known as Philolaos was born in Greece in 1923 with Larissa.

After having followed the courses of the school of the Art schools of Athens of 1944 to 1950, it goes to Paris where it enters to the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Art schools where it will follow the teaching of the sculptor Marcel Gimond.

In 1963, it conceives a sculpture-architecture castle-with water with Valence on the initiative of André Gomis, which confers to him the name of sculptor of the architects .

It is expressed in parallel on a material which holds its attention, the stainless steel, then will turn to other materials, like the terra cotta, the marble, turned wood and the washed concrete. The garden of Gogottes of Guyancourt in Yvelines uses the stainless steel and the washed concrete.

It creates in 1972 the Mechanical Oiseau , monumental sculpture exposed to Defense, with Paris.

It was appointed officer in the Ordre of Arts and the Letters the March 4th 2005.
