Philips Academy (also called Andover or Philips Andover ) is a famous preparatory school located at Andover (Massachusetts) close to Boston.

Philips Academy, one of best and most prestigious is lycés private of the the United States. It obtains one of the best scores of the country to what corresponds to the equivalent of the French VAT.

It is also one of most prestigious and élitistes preparatory schools at the large American universities like Yale, Harvard, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth College, Johns Hopkins, New York, Northwestern, the Université of Pennsylvania, Georgetown, Massachusetts Institute off Technology, and Princeton.

History

Philips Academy was founded as a school of boys in 1778 during the American revolution by Samuel Philips, Jr.

George Washington will send her nephews to it.

Philips Academy very early faced a rival, Philips Exeter Academy founded with Exeter, New Hampshire in 1781 by John Phillips, uncle de Samuel Philips.

In 1973, Philips Academy amalgamates with Abbot Academy, the first school for girls of New England.

The name of Andover is often simply used to indicate it in order to distinguish Philips Exeter Academy, (Abbot) Philips Academy and the rival of Exeter in New Hampshire.
