Philippe van Artevelde born in 1340, was killed with the battle of Roosebecke the November 27th 1382. Wire of Jacob Van Artevelde.

At the time of the battle which opposed it to Louis Ier of Flanders, count de Flandre, Philippe van Artevelde captain of the Ganteses were victorious. But it undergoes a cuisante demolished with the Bataille of Roosebecke on November 27th, 1382. Charles VI of France crushed the Flemish army ordered by Philippe van Artevelde with Roosebecke. During this battle, Philippe van Artevelde died by smothering in the middle of his soldiers aissaillis by the French troops.
