Philippe of Plaissis (or of Pleissiez , or of Liked ) are a French knight born in Anjou with Plessis-Macé in second half of the 12th century. It enters the Ordre of the Temple at the time of the Third crusade in 1189.

Its election with the head of the order with place between January and March 1201 since one of its first action, as a Master, is an agreement with the Ordre of the Hospital on the watering of the grounds and the use of the mills of the two orders in the Comté of Tripoli and dates from the April 17th 1201.

As of its taking of he is confronted with the king of Petite Arménie which seized a fortress templière located in the Principauté of Antioche. At the time of the investigation diligentée by the pope Innocent III the templiers are driven out of Small Arménie and their confiscated goods.

In 1201 the Egypt, then the Syria are devastated by an epidemic of plague; then a strong earthquake in intervenes 1202. Peace is thus necessary in order to rebuild the destroyed cities and villages. Philippe of Plaissis negotiates a truce with the Moslems which the knights teutonic S. refuses to join When the Hospitaliers negotiate them also a truce is with the turn of Templiers to refuse. These internal conflicts with the crusaders involves an intervention of the pope.

Indeed if the Ordre of the Temple to always the support of the pope (the 1205 Innocent III confirms the bubble of Anastase IV optimum Omne datum ) this one worries however about the continual complaints against the Templiers of the bishops and the princes. In 1208 it writes in Philippe of Plaissis to recall him that obedience one of the three wishes is pronounced by Templier and that to free itself some apostate returns it. It does not seem that this remonstrance is really heard by an order which recruits many knights and which the many donations enriches.
