Philippe de Milly

Philippe of Milly , also called Philippe of Nablus , is the seventh Master of the Ordre of the Temple of January 1169 with the April 3rd 1171.

Philippe de Milly exit of a family originating in Picardy was born however at the beginning of the 12th century with Nablus in the kingdom from Jerusalem, wire of Guy de Milly and Étiennette of Nablus. He exchanges with the king Baudouin III of Jerusalem his Seigneurie of Nablus against that of Montreal, then become widowed the Ordre of the Temple in 1148 enters. He is elected Master at the beginning of 1169 and succeeds Bertrand de Blanquefort. Its only feat of arms seems to be the defense of Gaza in front of the troops of Saladin. He resigns of his dignity before Passover of 1171 whereas he is with Constantinople with the king Amaury Ier of Jerusalem. The end of its life is unknown but it is probable that it enters a monastery cistercian as he is of use for a templier leaving the active service. Eudes de Saint-Amand succeeds to him.
