Context of a success
Prolific and inventive designer, Philippe Starck became the creator impossible to circumvent of the Eighties. Opportunist communicator as much as endowed, it knew to provide to the media a learnedly proportioned mixture of intellectualism, demagogy and spectacular, with the image of its counterpart in architecture, Jean Nouvel. In the years 1980, for the Golden delicious Society of the years Mitterrand, Philippe Starck represented, in the connected effervescence of the moment, the legitimacy of the revival until it waited. Following the policies, a whole easy, avid urban class of social recognition, was offered to lower costs and less effort a label design easily reconnaissable.
Philippe Starck initially knew to sell his own image, like a strongly media consumable of mass. Many companies called upon its services to awake an obsolete brand image. The effect and the logo STARCK played full for médiatiser with the products in which the comfort of use was sometimes sacrificed to the advertizing impact.
Beyond the controversies which in France its achievements and its oversize ego caused, Philippe Starck remains one of the contemporary French designers most known abroad.
