Naval architect

Philippe Harlé deeply marked the French nautical landscape; it is estimated that, in the years 1970, a sailing sailing ship in France on five was of Merganser, proportion going up to one on four for the livable sailing ships.

Among the sailing ships, its style went on four main roads:

; Small livable with bilge the S sharp ones: Starting with the Muscadet wine , a series of sailing ships to the names of great wines ( Armagnac …) will be built out of plywood by the Aubin building site. These sailing ships are relatively simple to build and thus economic, making it possible the pleasure to touch classes less easy than before. Safety and stability will be gradually improved as on the Cognac , often by adding the third bilge.
Les performances is not remains about it, certain sailing ships taking part in the Mini-Deckchair of 1979. These sailing ships became the “trademark” of Philippe Harlé.

; Plastic cruisers: These cruisers with a hull in form will be built by other building sites like Etap, Jeanneau or Feeling, which were then in full rise. The plastic sailing ships in general aged better than the plywood hulls, which end up rotting after 30 or 40 years.

; Deep-sea cruisers: One can in particular quote the Sancerre out of plastic and the Romanée out of aluminum, this last being made a solid reputation of boat of voyage. A Romanée for example crossed the Passage of the North-East (junction of the Atlantic in the Pacific by the north of Russia). Manufactured initially in 1973, approximately with 200 specimens during 10 years, the " Romanée" remain today still a sailing ship of reference.

; Sailing ships of competition: If the Muscadet had been already made a good place in the Mini-Deckchair, the Coco , drawn for this race, will be also a success, in particular with Laurent Bourgnon. Later, it is in Vendée Globe that it is attacked, with 36 15 MET and Helvim . Without gaining fulgurating results, these boats will be at least very sure.

It also designed boats of work, in particular the high-speed motorboat of connection of the Glénan islands, and boats for the Ostréiculture.

After its death, it is Alain Mortain which took again the torch, in partnership with Yiannis Mavrikios
