Philippe Kourilsky

Philippe Kourilsky , born the July 22nd 1942 with Boulogne-Billancourt, is a French scientist, member of the Academy of Science.

Professional path

Former student of the Polytechnic school, doctor be-sciences, it carries out the major part of his career to the National center of the scientific research, where he is research director. In 1998, it is named professor with the Collège de France, where it occupies the molecular pulpit of immunology. January 1st, 2000, it is named managing director of the Institut Pasteur, station of which it resigns on July 31st, 2005.

He is member of the Academy of Science, professor at the Pasteur Institute and member of Academia Europea.

Research

He exerted many responsibilities touching with the administration for research and the applications for the genetics and the Immunologie in the public sector and deprived. He is in particular the author of a report/ratio on the precaution principle, given to the Prime Minister in 2006.

Publications

“Vaccination: when the ethical becomes im Morale” , For science, Paris, 2004,322,8-11.

In this work, it supports a thesis discussed when with the fact that the medical urgency in the Tiers-monde authorizes easings rêglementaires opposite, in particular, clinical trials, while at the same time the populations " cobayes" are not solvent and will not be able to thus profit from the treatment once its development finished. Such drifts are observed right now, it is in particular the case for a component of the Polythérapie S of HIV, the Ténofovir to which a clinical trial (detailed in the article on Ténofovir) in Cameroun made a sorry reputation.
