Philippe Katerine , born Philippe Blanchard the December 8th 1968 with Chantonnay (the Vendée), is an artist singer, actor, realizer and type-setter French. He has been married with the singer Helena Noguerra for a few years.

Its style is sometimes compared to the movement Easy-listening; he proposes a music with the accents of Bossa nova accompanied by often morbid or distressed texts and nevertheless tinted humor, the whole sometimes intersected with audio joinings.

Biography

Born the December 8th 1968, Philippe Katerine grows with Chantonnay in the Vendée, in a catholic and traditional family. It is interested very early in arts and more particularly in the music. Playing as a dilettante in groups of Anglo-Saxon influence during its adolescence, Katerine also practices the Basket-ball with high level. He is discovered a passion for the composition after the purchase of a tape recorder 4 tracks. He starts to record songs in his room while carrying on an community activity. Its close relations encourage it to make known its work.

It starts its career in November 1991, while leaving the Chinese marriages , a first album republished in 1992 with an additional title, under the title the Chinese marriages and the second reading . Distressed and far from sure of its work, Katerine composes and records almost all alone at his place. Traumatisé by its first service of singer, it leaves in 1994 the album English education on which his/her sister Bruno and her Anne partner ensure the song. Philippe Katerine starts to be recognized well that apart from the “commercial” music.

In 1995, it works on its third album and knows a big change during one year. It opens with other musicians and sings itself its texts. The album My bad companies leaves in 1996 and takes a more important dimension thanks to a richer orchestration and several voices. The album, which is very well accommodated by the public and the critic, is followed of a round.

In 1997, it composes an album for two singers anglo-Japanese women, the Sœurs Winchester and also takes part in a disc where it meets the musicians of Jazz group The Recyclers with which it will work thereafter.

Always dissatisfied of its work, it composes in parallel the man with three hands and the Creatures . First is interpreted and recorded as with its practice, only at his place with ridiculous means, whereas the second is with the Recyclers, under “conventional” conditions more. The two albums are published together and mark a real turning in the career of Philippe Katerine.

He then plays the game of the media and promotion, and titrates it I you emmerde is diffused with the radio. Always distressed, it draws nevertheless a great satisfaction from its collaboration with the Recyclers. These musicians of a different universe fascinate it by their manner of working and their report/ratio with the Improvisation. Katerine estimates that this collaboration enabled him to integrate new manners of working, and to integrate the improvisation in its work method
