He was count de Nassau-Wiesbaden and count de Nassau-Idstein of 1511 with 1558.

In 1514, Philippe Ier de Nassau married Adrienne von Bergen (1495 - 1524), (girl of Jean VI von Bergen).

Six children were born from this union:

  • Catherine de Nassau (1515 - 1540), in 1538 it married Jean III von Hohenfels (deceased in 1573)

  • Philippe II of Nassau (1516 - 1566), count de Nassau-Wiesbaden and count de Nassau-Idstein of 1558 with 1566

  • Marguerite de Nassau (1517 - 1596), it entered the orders and was abbess

  • Adolphe IV of Nassau (1518 - 1556), in 1543 it married Francoise de Brienne, rams of Roucy, (deceased in 1566), (girl of the count Charles Ier de Brienne, count de Ligny and of Roucy), (Maison of Luxembourg), (posterity)

  • Anne de Nassau (1520 - 1594), it entered the orders.

Philippe Ier de Nassau belonged to the first branch of the Maison of Nassau, this line of Nassau-Wiesbaden-Idstein belonged to the stem Valmérienne, it died out with dead Jean Louis II of Nassau in (1605).
